About This Book

Each of the 14 independent Units of this book presents one or more real datasets and shows appropriate statistical methods for analysis. Minitab instructions and output are featured throughout. Student exercises focus on both drill and exploration. A brief orientation to use of Minitab is included. Units average about 15 pages each. Methods range from basic descriptive statistics through the inferential methods usually included in a basic course (confidence intervals, t-tests, chi-squared tests, regression, ANOVA, nonparametric tests). Final optional sections of some Units cover intermediate-level material (multiple regression, multifactor ANOVA, simulations). An Instructor Guide on CD-ROM contains suggestions for classroom presentations and Minitab output for all exercises. Datasets are available on CD-ROM and from the Duxbury website. Also, except for a few large datasets, complete data are shown at the end of each Unit.
